White, Yellow, or Green Discharge? What It Says About Your Health

VAGINAL THRUSH (FUNGAL INFECTION):

  • No odor
  • Curd like or cottage-cheese like/or somewhat watery discharge

Causes to Check ⚠️: 

  • Medicines induced vaginal infection examples includes corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, medicines that affect estrogen level such as contraceptives, HRT, tamoxifen, and  broad-spectrum antibiotics can contribute to the vaginal infections
  • Diabetes: High blood sugar level causes increased in surface receptors for C.albicans (fungal organism) and decreased the ability of neutrophils to  phagocytose C.albicans thus increasing the risk of the infection.
  • Use of chemicals/irritants: Products such as bubble baths, vaginal sprays or douches etc. can affect vaginal pH and thus can contribute to the vaginal infection
